Direct Wikipedia Definition- "Food processing is the transformation of raw ingredients, by physical or chemical means into food, or of food into other forms. Food processing combines raw food ingredients to produce marketable food products that can be easily prepared and served by the consumer." Obviously a huge percentage of our food must go through come sort of process to reach us although there is an important difference between mechanical processing and chemical processing. Many foods go through processing before reaching the consumer but some foods can be negatively processed in order to market and produce these products better.  We should try stick to fresh food as much as possible as processing can remove good nutrients and contain preservatives and additives. FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLES

Fruit and vegetables have been eaten for the entire period of the human race. We all know the basic rule , eat your 5 a day. Fruit and vegetables are low in calories and fats and contain vital vitamins and minerals such as  calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, beta-carotene, vitamin B-complex, vitamin-C, vitamin-A, and vitamin K. Fruit and vegetables are rich in antioxidants that help protect our body from oxidant stress, diseases, and cancers. Vegetables are carbohydrates and provide us with lots of energy but have far less calories and fats than classic carbs such as bread and pasta. Fruit and veg can take lots of different forms. we eat them fresh, dried, tinned, cooked, raw, frozen or purified but it is best to eat them raw and fresh as they contain all of their vitamins and minerals.  Many more people have began to follow a plant based diet which may be very good for you and you may see a lot of health benefits although cutting meat eggs and diary cuts out a huge sou

MEAT, EGGS AND DAIRY.

The average person eats around 70g of meat a day which is double our recommended protein intake. Around 10 billion animals in the USA are raised for dairy, meat, and eggs each year. Factory farming is the leading cause of climate change today. Over 3% of the worlds population are vegetarian (around 7 million) Just under 1%  of the population are vegan and consume no meat, eggs or dairy and follow a plant based diet (rozblogzz.BlogSpot.com) Although more and more people today are encouraging less meat intake due to animal cruelty and unhealthy habits ect.  eating meat is an important source of protein which is otherwise hard to get and it has been an important source of food for humans since the hunter gatherers hundreds of thousands of years ago. see @rozblogzz for contradiction. In recent years nutrition and health has changed a huge amount.  The food industry is a large and diverse market.  I will be producing 4 blog posts about different areas of the industry and also the effects of the industry on our population and our enviroment ;  meat, eggs and dairy, fresh fruit and veg, processed foods and fish/ seafood.
